How to keep fit and stay motivated during winter

Every year, we almost all get into a winter slump where it’s too cold to get up for a morning run or the sound of the rain in the morning makes us want to sleep in instead of heading to the gym to get your workout done.

And then the weather warms up and before we know it, it’s almost spring and we are wanting our summer bodies back.

So let’s make a change this year and really stop this from becoming a problem. We have come up with several ways for you to adopt to keep you fit and motivated throughout winter…

Set a 10,000 steps-a-day goal

This one is good any time of the year, but additionally good during winter. You don’t need to get out of your PJs, go out in the cold or even leave the house. After your regular daily routine is over – whether it’s coming back from work or putting the kids to sleep, work on hitting the 10,000 steps. You can simply walk up and down your house, jog on the spot while watching your shows or invest in a treadmill. By sticking to this goal, you can burn up to 500 calories a day.

Be Prepared

Planning and being prepared is one of the most important elements to actually getting yourself out the door. If you’re planning on working out in the morning, have everything prepared the night before.

Lay out your workout clothes, make sure all your devices (phone, earphones, smartwatch etc.) are charged up and have an alarm clock set. It always helps to have your workout planned as well.

Being prepared means you will have no excuse not to get up in the morning.

Get a Buddy

We are all in this together. Many people around you will be looking for someone to keep them motivated and get them up to exercise. Reach out to a friend or family member and ask them to join you on a routine. If you don’t have a trainer, having a friend will keep you accountable and push you both to exercise, rather than losing motivation.

Organise Your Meals

It’s no doubt that the most important way to stay motivated and not lose track of your health and fitness goals is through your food – after all, it is 80% food, 20% exercise. Eating right will keep your mind in the right direction and help you stay motivated. You can do this by planning a night of meal prep for a few days or try out our meals delivered to your door.
